Welcome to storycutter.com.  My name is Joe Elwood and I have been in the post production business for over 17 years.  I strive to bring the highest level of creativity, story telling and fun to every project that I cut.  I enjoy collaborating with directors, story artists and producers to create the best end product that we can.  I have a very strong background in the 3D animation pipeline and a complete working knowledge of the process from start to finish.  I believe that structure in file management is key to having a successful animation production.  Well, that and having great story and characters.  But, that I assume is a given. 

I also have an extensive history in live action and advertising, cutting at Red Car for 8 years.  I've cut music videos, game trailers, award winning commercials and reality TV.  I've worked on set as Effects Supervisor for green screen and crowd replication shoots.  I've supervised telecine, final mix and online. 

I live in San Rafael, CA and I'm working at Lucasfilm Animation.  I have a wonderful wife of 11 years and an awesome 7 year old son.  We enjoy being outdoors, camping, fishing, snowboarding, skiing, standup paddle boarding, skateboarding and of course the beach.  I'm also an accomplished drummer.  I played professionally with the band Honchie for over 5 years.  We played NXNE, SXSW and other high profile shows as well as toured the southwest. I believe that my music background gives me an edge when cutting to music or just in general timing.
